Georgia EDGE transfer Samuel M’Pemba commits to Texas A&M

Georgia EDGE transfer Samuel M’Pemba is staying in the SEC. M’Pemba has committed to Texas A&M, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

M’Pemba is a former four-star recruit who was ranked as the No. 44 overall player in the country and No. 6 EDGE in the class of 2023, per the On3 Industry Rankings.

M’Pemba appeared in 10 games as a true freshman at Georgia in 2023, finishing the year with six tackles. In 2024, he appeared in the first four games of the season. The Bulldogs are the No. 2 seed in the College Football Playoff and are preparing to face Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1.

As for Texas A&M, the Aggies finished 8-4 in the regular season and are preparing to face USC in the Las Vegas Bowl. It was a solid first year for Mike Elko as the Texas A&M head coach.

Prior to signing with Georgia, Samuel M’Pemba attended IMG Academy. He helped IMG to an 8-1 record as a senior, finishing with 36 tackles, 14 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.

It will be interesting to see what kind of impact he makes with the Texas A&M defense in 2025.

Colorado transfer, former Pitt EDGE rusher Dayon Hayes commits to Texas A&M

In addition to Samuel M’Pemba, Texas A&M also recently landed a commitment from former Colorado EDGE Dayon Hayes. Hayes began his college career at Pitt.

Hayes started in the first four games of the 2024 season for the Buffaloes before getting injured. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

He had two sacks among four tackles for loss in those games. Hayes spent four years at Pitt, with the 2020 season not counting toward his eligibility.

In his five-year college career, Hayes has played in 43 games, making 14 sacks among 31 tackles for loss.

Hayes played high school football at Westinghouse (Pa.) High School. He was a four-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting class and the nation’s No. 266 recruit, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

Texas A&M has been active in the transfer portal, including adding a couple of EDGE rushers recently.
