Hurricane Helene has had an effect on the college football slate for Week 5, and the biggest game of the weekend is Georgia at Alabama . One fan was preparing to miss out on the festivities, but his friend came to the rescue, braving some serious flooding with a raft.

Alison Mastrangelo of WSB-TV in Atlanta shared the unique story on X. According to Mastrangelo, an awesome friend blew up a raft, waded across the water and was able to get to the house of his trapped companion. Now, the duo is seemingly headed to the gigantic SEC clash in Tuscaloosa. Check out the video of it all below.

“Guys I know @SEC fans are built different but this guy just blew up a float to go rescue his friend who is trapped in a house,” Mastrangelo posted on X, accompanying the video of the friend preparing to brave the water. “They’re going to the Georgia Alabama game and he doesn’t want his friend to miss it.”

Of course, Mastrangelo had to update the masses, revealing that the duo is safe and ready for the game: “He’s made it across to get his friend so they can make it to the Georgia Alabama game,” she posted. “This is wild! He’s gotta win best friend of the year.”

Even if these two are Georgia fans, the crowd in Tuscaloosa could appreciate their efforts in getting to the game. Perhaps Kirby Smart could use it as a reason why there’s no excuses for the Bulldogs in his pregame speech or something. The drive of these two deserves to be commended.

Alas, not every fan would brave flood waters to get to a college football game, but not every college football game is as important as Georgia-Alabama will be in Week 5. The eyes of the college football world will be on Tuscaloosa on Saturday night, as Kalen DeBoer’s Crimson Tide welcome the Bulldogs to town.

Paul Finebaum examines how much pressure is on Kalen DeBoer vs. Georgia

Moreover, Kalen DeBoer has the Crimson Tide humming at the moment, and a victory over Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs would go a long way towards convincing fans he’s a worthy successor to Nick Saban. Ahead of the showdown, ESPN’s Paul Finebaum examined the pressure DeBoer is under to get a win in Tuscaloosa in Week 5.

“It’s massive, and some of it is because of the perception,” Finebaum stated, via Get Up. “Going into the season, I thought Georgia would be a much bigger favorite, but they have played poorly, nearly losing to Kentucky. Alabama has looked great. DeBoer has had a seamless transition, which is almost inconceivable, considering he was replacing Nick Saban, but he’s done almost everything right, and the fans right now cannot accept the fact that things have changed. They are still in charge of college football.

“I don’t want to tell them they’re not, that Texas is actually No. 1, but the real problem is a loss here would be a shock to the system, and Mondays after an Alabama loss are like nothing else, because they have happened so infrequently under Nick Saban.”

Evidently, Finebaum believes it’s paramount for DeBoer to win his first big game as the Crimson Tide leader. Regardless, it’s evident the winner will set themselves up nicely for a championship run, while the loser might have to go back to the drawing board, and hope they get some help moving forward.
