Georgia high school football state champions find next head coach

After a surprising shakeup in the Georgia high school football coaching ranks the past few months, one of the state’s top programs has a new leader.
Hebron Christian Academy is hiring former state championship winner and current Trinity Christian head coach Kenny Dallas, the school announced on Wednesday morning via X.
Dallas had helmed the program at Trinity since 2017, winning a trio of region championships (2017, 2020 and 2021) as well as a state championship in 2021.
“We are beyond excited to welcome Coach Dallas to HCA,” Hebron Director of Athletics Taylor Davis said in a press release from the school. “He brings a wealth of experience from Christian private schools, coupled with a proven track record of success at every stop in his career. Coach Dallas is the perfect fit to lead our football program as we strive for excellence on and off the field. I look forward to seeing his impact within the football program but also across our HCA campus and throughout our community.”
Prior to his time at Trinity Christian, Dallas served as the head coach at Landmark Christian from 2001 to 2011, where he won six-straight Region 5-Class A titles from 2002-2007. He was also an associate head coach at powerhouse Eagles Landing Christian Academy, where he helped the Eagles to back-to-back state titles.

In his 19 years as a head coach, he has 18 winning seasons, six double-digit win seasons, and four state championship game appearances.
Hebron Christian has developed into a Georgia state power
The Lions are coming off a 12-2 season — its best in program history — that was capped off with a state championship victory over Prince Avenue Christian. Last month, third-year head coach Jonathan Gess left the program to take over at Southside Christian School in Greenville, South Carolina.
An 18-year coaching veteran, Gess won seven state titles in Georgia. He came to Hebron Christian from Eagles Landing Christian Academy, where he and Dallas coached together from 2014-16. Prior to Gess’ stiny former NFL star Jeff Saturday had led the Lions’ program before taking a job with the Indianapolis Colts. Saturday went 21-16 in his three seasons at HCA, advancing them into the quarterfinals of the GHSA state playoffs. Gess’ first team finished 9-3, but then dropped to 6-5 in year two, losing to Cedar Grove in the 3A playoffs.
Led by a talented roster that included three Power Four signees, the Lions rebounded to finish 12-2 in 2024, with their only losses coming to Blessed Trinity Catholic and Prince Avenue at the end of the regular season.
