Georgia nearing top five in On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings after latest commitment

Georgia’s charge to sign another top-three recruiting class is feeling all the more notable as the month of May continues.
After beginning the month outside the top 15 of the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, the Bulldogs now sit at No. 6 nationally following a Mother’s Day commitment from Warner Robins (Ga.) Houston County four-star safety Jordan Smith.
The No. 75 overall prospect and No. 6 safety in the nation, Smith is the second big commitment of the month for head coach Kirby Smart and UGA. On May 5, the Bulldogs regained a pledge from Nashville Christian five-star quarterback Jared Curtis, the top-ranked QB in the 2026 cycle.
The Georgia class now features nine commits, and with the addition of Smith, it jumped Alabama and Texas A&M to move from No. 8 to No. 6 in the team rankings.
“Development played a big role in my decision,” Smith told On3. “Being around a culture where winning and competing is everything meant a lot too. It’s also not too far from home.”
Georgia recruiting continues to heat up
This May could go down as a historic month on the recruiting trail in Athens. Not only are Curtis and Smith now in the fold, but another big name is set to come off the board in the coming days.
Nixa (Mo.) Five-Star Plus+ offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell is the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect and he returned to UGA this weekend ahead of his May 13 commitment. The Bulldogs are trending in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine and look to be in the driver’s seat for the elite trench monster. May has also brought a pledge from Buford (Ga.) four-star IOL Graham Houston.

If Cantwell is added to the fold, too, Georgia will find itself even closer to the top of the team rankings — USC, LSU and Ohio State currently make up the top three.
Smith is now one of three safeties in the UGA class. Long Beach, Calif. native and IMG Academy (Fla.) four-star safety Zech Fort pledged at the end of January and is the No. 10 safety in the nation. Marietta (Ga.) Sprayberry three-star safety Kealan Jones joined the class last month.
Tustin (Calif.) Mission Viejo four-star wide receiver Vance Spafford remains a top-100 recruit and is now the No. 11 receiver in the cycle. He’s been in the mix since November as one of the Golden State’s top recruits.
Saline (Mich.) four-star tight end Lincoln Keyes was an underrated pickup for UGA last fall and now ranks as the nation’s No. 14 TE and No. 4 player in Michigan. Cartersville (Ga.) four-star WR Brady Marchese has also seen his stock rise since committing back in March. Powder Springs (Ga.) JUCO DL Seven Cloud rounds out the class.
