Georgia State point guard Dwon Odom enters NCAA transfer portal
Veteran Georgia State point guard and former Xavier player Dwon Odom is officially back in the transfer portal ahead of his final season, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
Odom began at X back in 2020-21 and spent two seasons there before transferring down south to Georgia State, where he started 51 games over the last two seasons as the team point guard.
Odom came into Georgia State and immediately became one of the best and most important pieces of the squad, averaging north of 13 points, four rebounds and nearly four assists while playing 34 minutes per game in 2023. His role took a slight dip in 2024, but the team as a whole improved immensely, going from a 14th place finish and three total conference wins to seventh with eight wins in the Sun Belt.
Now, after two years leading a mid-major squad at the point of attack, Odom will evaluate options ahead of his fifth and final season of college hoops.
Odom averaged 6.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists while shooting 58.4% from the field in his final season, 2021-22, for the Musketeers. As a freshman, Odom averaged very similar numbers — 6.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists, starting more than 20 contests across those two years.
Other former Xavier guard enters portal

Tandy never averaged more than seven points per game for Xavier and saw his playing time dwindle as it went on, and thus, transferred down to get an opportunity at more playing time in his fifth season.
Well, the decision paid off, because Tandy popped to average 17.8 points per game, bolstered by his 6.8 3-point attempts per game which he converted at a 38.9% clip. Never the greatest distributor, Tandy did still average just 1.4 assists per game, and for his career has a negative assist-turnover ratio.
But a shooter like him — high efficiency on high volume — ought to be appealing in today’s day and age and he could very well land back on a power conference team.
Prior to arriving at Xavier more than a half-decade ago, Tandy was a recruit that drew a lot of chatter in the state of Kentucky. A Hopkinsville, KY native, Tandy finished his career as the eighth-highest scorer in state history with over 3,000 points.
