Georgia Tech safety Khari Gee withdraws from transfer portal

Georgia Tech safety Khari Gee has withdrawn from the transfer portal, On3 has learned.
A former three-star recruit who started his career at Notre Dame, he made just one appearance as a redshirt sophomore in 2023 with a tackle against Clemson. Gee entered the portal in April after the Yellow Jackets had wrapped up spring ball.
His decision to return to Georgia Tech gives the program some added depth in the secondary. During the 2022 campaign, his first with the Yellow Jackets, he played all 12 games while tallying two starts. He finished with six tackles, one tackle for loss and .5 sacks.
He didn’t play during his freshman season at Notre Dame in 2021, opting to redshirt. During his high school career at Woodward Academy (Atlanta), Gee recorded 37 tackles, five tackles for loss and two interceptions in his senior season. He also helped Woodward Academy to the second round of the 5A state playoffs.

When he committed to Notre Dame out of high school, he touted offers from Clemson, LSU, Oregon, USC, Michigan, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Florida State and Nebraska, among others. Gee’s return gives Georgia Tech another option in the secondary. The Yellow Jackets lost cornerbacks Kenyatta Watson II, Kenan Johnson and KJ Wallace in the portal.
Georgia Tech finished the 2023 season with a 7-6 record, including 5-3 in the ACC. Quarterback Haynes King returns after he finished his first year in Atlanta with a 61.6% completion percentage, passing for 2,842 yards with 27 touchdowns and 16 interceptions.
The Yellow Jackets open the season on Aug. 24 against Florida State in Dublin, Ireland.
