Georgia transfer guard Silas Demary Jr. committed to UConn. One of the best available players in the transfer portal, he averaged 13.5 points per game this past season.
Demary started 69 out of 70 games in his two years at Georgia and put up his best numbers this past season. He averaged 13.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game while helping the Bulldogs to an NCAA Tournament appearance out of a loaded SEC. UGA finished 20-13 overall and 8-10 in league play.
As a freshman in 2023-24, Demary averaged 9.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Silas Demary Jr. played high school basketball at Charlotte (N.C.) Combine Academy, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 74 overall player from the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. After entering the transfer portal, Demary became the No. 16 overall player to hit the open market, according to the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings.
When he entered the transfer portal, Demary announced he was also declaring for the 2025 NBA Draft. He maintained his eligibility, leaving the door open for a return to college.

“After much prayer and thorough discussions with my parents and those close to my journey, I have decided to test the waters of the NBA while maintaining my college eligibility in the transfer portal,” Demary wrote in a post on Instagram. “My decision was not made lightly.
“To my teammates, our camaraderie pushed me to be a better leader on and off the court. To the UGA coaching staff and support team, thank you for believing in me. The bonds I’ve formed with Dawg Nation and the Athens community will forever hold a special place in my heart.”
UConn fell short of its goal of winning a third consecutive national championship this past season, finishing 24-11 overall and 14-6 in Big East play. The Huskies made the 2025 NCAA Tournament as a No. 8 seed and took down Oklahoma in the first round before falling to Florida in the second round after the Gators mounted a comeback in the final minutes.
