Shaw's Standouts: 2022 Glymph Fall League
Columbia, South Carolina – For years, the Glymph League has been the premier fall league in South Carolina. Bring together the best teams from around the Columbia area, with its reach going beyond the capital city. This year is no different; ranked players, state champions, and everything in between showed up to play at Cardinal Newman High School for the jam-packed event.
George Glymph is known as a South Carolina legend in the basketball world. The former head coach of Columbia (SC) Eau Claire, retired with 471 career wins and five state championships. He coached in the NBA and has been memorialized in numerous Halls of Fame. His legacy goes much further than this Glymph Fall League, Glymph passed in 2021, but it certainly helps carry his name forward.
Monday night featured six games, with twelve teams in total playing. The games got up and down, and the crowd was pretty thick throughout the night. There was a buzz; you can tell that the season is almost here. Teams are glad to be playing guys outside of their own locker room. For scouting purposes, it is always good to get multiple games going back-to-back.
On3s Jamie Shaw was courtside for the entire evening. Let’s roll through Shaw’s Standouts from the Glymph Fall League.
Four-star SG Cam Scott (2024)
Cam Scott has maintained his status as a top-15 prospect in the 2024 On3 150 and continues to get better. Just last week, he exploded for 51 points in this league. On Monday, Scott finished with 21 and a win. With his high school group, Scott is making a conscious effort to play on the ball. The reads are developing, and he is toggling well between when to take over and when to get everyone involved. Still, he is a shooting guard, but having some secondary initiation experience will only enhance his skill set.
Scott has four junior year official visits set up; South Carolina, Auburn, Texas, and Florida State. He took an unofficial visit to Tennessee last weekend and has one set to Duke for their ACC/BIG 10 Challenge game against Ohio State.
Three-star SF Arden Conyers (2023)
Arden Conyers is an intriguing long-term play. He is a legit 6-foot-6, maybe 6-foot-7. There is a fluidity to the way he moves, some pop in the way he jumps, and some touch that extends beyond the three-point line. Yes, all the tools are there. On Monday night, the Columbia (SC) Westwood wing finished with 22 points. He had an assortment of dunks, pull-ups, and spot threes on the night. It was efficient and within the flow. His growth moving forward will be interesting to follow.
Conyers committed to South Carolina in early August.
Four-star SF Treyvon Maddox (2025)
When looking up the term upside, you might see a picture of Treyvon Maddox. The lengthy, 6-foot-7 forward is as good a run-and-jump athlete as you will find in the 2025 class. He has long arms and quick vertical pop off the ground. He showcased this burst on both ends of the floor on Monday night, guarding the point of attack and finishing above the rim on multiple plays. Along with his youth, Maddox is still finding his game. Movement off the ball, counters off the bounce, and a consistent release point on his jumper are all coming. However, the canvas with which to paint is pristine.

Other notes
*West Columbia (SC) Gray College senior Avantae Parker has continued to improve year over year. The 6-foot-8 post has length, pop, touch, and footwork. Georgia Southern locked him up early, and they should enjoy what he will bring to campus.
*Columbia (SC) Spring Valley High senior CJ Rich might be the state’s best point guard in his class. The 5-foot-11 Rich is as steady as they come wi the ball in his hands. A vocal leader, he can score at each level when needed, but also has excellent floor vision, taking care of the ball. Steady, no flash, all substance type point guard.
Young bucks
*6-foot-3 2025 point guard Kaleb Evans of Lexington (SC) High has the frame, the skill, and the athleticism to step onto the national stage. Monitor the development.
*6-foot-7 2026 post Elton Smith has long arms, soft hands, and patience on the block. He also has a 2008 birthday. Check back in six months and see where we are.
