Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers provides update on toe injury
While he’s been battling a toe injury for multiple weeks, there was speculation that Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was going to have surgery during the team’s bye week. However, that wasn’t the case.
Instead of undergoing surgery to repair his fractured pinky toe, Rodgers – who has continued to play through the injury – went to Los Angeles during the Packers’ bye week to get a second opinion and has held off on the option of surgery. For now at least, the star quarterback is going to continue to let the toe heal on its own.
“I think any decision that’s made would be one that allows me to play. I’m not going to miss any games,” Rodgers said Tuesday on the Pat McAfee Show. “I’ve obviously played with much bigger injuries, different parts of my body. And although it’s a small pinky toe, it’s definitely painful and creates some issues. But I’m not going to miss any games because of it.”
In Green Bay’s last game against the Los Angeles Rams on Nov. 28, Rodgers threw for 307 yards and two touchdowns despite not practicing all week. There’s a good chance that he won’t practice again this week leading up to Sunday night’s game against the Chicago Bears.
“I’m not going to disparage practice and say that it’s not important. I think it is important,” Rodgers said. “I think there’s things to be talked out and figured out during the week by practicing and taking those reps. At the same time, I’m old enough, I’ve been in this league long enough, I’ve played enough games where I can still go out and perform at a really high level without practicing.”

Matt LaFleur provides status update on Aaron Rodgers’ toe fracture
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is going the non-evasive route for treatment of his fractured toe. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur shared on Monday that he doesn’t believe Rodgers is getting surgery early this week.
The surgery would have only sidelined Rodgers for a few days during the Packers’s bye week, but the veteran has been playing well even with the injury.
Rodgers expressed his hope to avoid surgery last week on the Pat McAfee Show.
“We’ll reassess later this week and early next week, the ultimate goal is to not have to do it,” Rodgers said.
