“Texas has officially joined Georgia as one of the most complete teams in the sport,” McElroy said after Week 2’s slate. “They look like a complete team, fast, physical, well coached, excellent in situations that would kind of showcase just how well coached they are. Poised, physical, I mean, you name it. If there is a positive attribute to apply to a team from this past weekend, Texas should likely get it.”

McElroy pointed out that the Longhorns converted on 80 percent (8/10) of their third down attempts in the first half as they headed into the locker room with a 24-3 lead.

Experience is the name of the game on the offensive end of the ball, and are lead by arguably the top offensive tackle in the country in Kelvin Banks Jr. Adding the likes of Isaiah Bond and Matthew Golden from the transfer portal for Ewers to throw to out wide has kept their scoring offense on par with some of the best in the country. On the other side of the ball, they turned to the transfer portal to beef their up their rotation.

“Texas, put forth a complete performance — and that was a terrible matchup for Michigan, no doubt about it,” McElroy continued. “But if you think this Texas team can’t win the whole thing, I think you’re crazy. That was so impressive to see what we saw from them on the road on Saturday.”

After taking on UTSA and UL Monroe iover the next couple of weeks, the Longhorns will look to keep their national championship aspirations alive entering SEC play beginning on Sept. 28 against Mississippi State.
