College football analyst Greg McElroy created the ultimate college football schedule for the 2023 season, selecting the best game from each week of the upcoming season.

McElroy personally thinks Week 12 doesn’t have the strongest slate of games this year, he chose a rematch of one of last year’s most highly anticipated games in the SEC as the main event for the third week of November.

“Week 12’s a little dry, not a ton going on with Week 12 if I’m going to be honest with you,” McElroy admitted. “A couple games that are pretty good, that are intriguing, but it’s that lettuce week where you have great games that sandwich it but in the middle it’s just kind of not bad. But we do get a decently compelling game in the SEC East, Georgia will go to Tennessee.”

Last season’s matchup versus the Bulldogs and Volunteers was a headliner, as both teams entered the game undefeated and ranked No. 1 and No. 3 in the country. Georgia got the last laugh, winning at home 27-13 on their way to another national title win, but Bulldogs seemed to have the upper hand for the entire afternoon.

“Last year the game was not competitive, yes I know you look at the final score, yeah the margin was not that significant. My goodness, anyone that watched it felt like a whole heck of a lot more than what the final score would indicate,” McElroy said. “Now Tennessee gets an opportunity to show hey we are without question at this moment, we’re maybe not quite where Georgia is, but we’re trending.”

Many are curious how the Vols will respond after their impressive season last year. Head coach Josh Huepel led the team to their first double-digit win season since 2007, but can he build on that without star quarterback Hendon Hooker and some other valuable pieces from last year’s squad?

“This is their opportunity, this is a massive game for the Tennessee Volunteers. If they get blown out in their own backyard it only furthers the narrative that there’s a massive gap between Georgia and everybody else in the SEC East, that would be a difficult one to overcome,” McElroy explained. “They have to at least be competitive and if they can somehow pull off a shocker of an upset in Georgia’s most difficult game of the year.”

It will be hard to bet against the defending back-to-back national champions all season this year, but McElroy believes Week 12 will be their best chance to possibly get dethroned in one of the most exciting games on the schedule in 2023.

“That’s right I said it I think this is the toughest game on the schedule for the Georgia Bulldogs. It’s the end of the year, you’re looking at some of the other games on the schedule for the dogs, they’re pretty dang favorable. A road trip to Neyland there at the very end, assuming Tennessee’s gonna be as good as I think they’re gonna be, this one should be worth a watch,” McElroy said.
