Greg McElroy suggests how Shedeur Sanders, Colorado offense can address OL struggles
Greg McElroy didn’t pull the plug on Colorado or Shedeur Sanders and the Buffaloes offense following the loss to Nebraska.
Yes, the biggest concern is how the offense operates one dimensionally, again, without a run game. In that case, Sanders is subject to too many hits and the passing game can be easily defended. That’s what the Huskers did.
But, McElroy looked at what was to come and thinks Colorado will be fine.
“I think they’re going to be okay,” McElroy said on SportsCenter. “I look at kind of how this matchup played out, and this was a seminal moment for Nebraska football to prove ‘Hey, we are trending in the right direction.’ It was almost as if they absolutely had to have it. Meanwhile, for Colorado, they’ve played in the spotlight before, and while it would have been great to have, it’s not one that they absolutely had to have to show the progress that’s been made from last year.”

McElroy had to acknowledge the problems Sanders faces behind a struggling offensive line. Despite a great Week 1 passing the ball, Sanders was bruised and battered against Nebraska.

But there appears to be a silver lining for Colorado.
“Yes, the offensive line is a problem. No one’s denying that. I also think too, when you look at Shedeur Sanders, there has to come a time where he acknowledges that my guys in front of me aren’t very good, and I need to get the ball out faster. And that can happen against teams remaining on the schedule. And while all these teams currently reside in the top 20, three of the four are at home, which is a difficult place to play. And if you look at just the perimeter matchups that Colorado can create with their speed and weapons at wide receiver, they can win some of these games.
“If you look at Kansas State, they struggled last week with a Tulane team that, I don’t know how good Tulane is, but they struggled with them and at one point they were down by 10 in the second half. Arkansas gave Oklahoma State all they wanted. So I think Colorado is still in a good spot, and can show progress in the games to come.”
