Ahead of the first press conference at the 2022 SEC Media Days, conference commissioner Greg Sankey attempted to lay down some ground rules for the head coaches. After an offseason that included a public feud between Alabama head coach Nick Saban and Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher, Sankey’s hoping for less drama in Atlanta than he had in Destin.

“What I said in Destin — and this is a good reminder, I hope [the head coaches are] all watching … they’re responsible [at SEC media days] to talk about their players, their programs and the prospects for their season,” Sankey said on SEC Network, via Mike Rodak.

“If you remember the three Ps, you’re going to be in good shape. You’re going to be prompted for the fourth P to talk about everybody else and everything else, and you better figure out how you’re going to handle [those questions from reporters].”

Sankey also gave the coaches his best PR 101 advice: “Answer the question you want to answer, not the one they ask you.”

Coaches hitting the podium on day one are Brian Kelly, Lane Kiffin and Eli Drinkwitz.
