Harold Perkins injury update: Severity of LSU star's knee injury revealed, per report
LSU has received the worst possible news regarding Harold Perkins according to reports out of Baton Rouge.
Per sources speaking to 247Sports and CBS Sports, Perkins suffered a season-ending knee injury this weekend. The belief is that he tore his ACL.
Perkins left in the fourth quarter of the 34-17 win over UCLA on Saturday. He went down on a tackle and stayed on the field to be treated by the medical staff. He then limped off as he went to the locker room and didn’t check back in.
Brian Kelly had said that Perkins would be undergoing testing today and tomorrow with an update on it to start this next week. However, that news is already out based on this reporting.
Perkins has been a top defensive player for the Tigers over three seasons on their defense at linebacker. In total, he has posted 164 tackles, 28 being for loss, with 13 sacks in his collegiate career overall. He also has seven deflections, seven forced fumbles with one recovery, and two interceptions.
In that time, Perkins has been a Freshman All-American and an All-SEC honoree

Through his four appearances this fall, Perkins had posted 17 tackles, a pair being for loss, and that fumble recovery. He’s tied for fourth on the defense in total tackles and has one of their four fumble recoveries on the year.
Perkins was often a main topic of discussion about the defense for LSU. How the Tigers were utilizing him became a question after his production dipped from his freshman year to his sophomore one. However, he won’t add any more numbers to his junior stats with his season being over after four games.
This is a major loss for the Tigers after just a quarter of their season. They’ll now have to adjust to it with one more game in the non-conference before their first bye week ahead of the start of conference play.

More on the season-ending injury to Perkins
While LSU came away with a 34-17 win over UCLA on Saturday, the matchup brought with it more unfortunate injury news for the Tigers.
Harold Perkins, who earned the No. 7 jersey ahead of his junior season this fall, will miss the rest of the year with a knee injury, per multiple reports.
Brian Kelly had confirmed postgame that it was a knee injury. Now, Blake Baker will have to move forward without the services of Perkins.
Perkins had started all four games this season. He has made starts in 25 of his 31 career appearances thus far.
LSU will now have to move forward with a pair of linebackers who have also been starters across the first four games in Greg Penn III and Whit Weeks. The Tigers will get West Weeks back from injury, which is welcome news for depth purposes.
