Heisman Trophy odds updated after four finalists named
College football’s regular season has come to a close, and conference championship weekend has passed. As the loaded bowl slate approaches and national awards are handed out across the nation, the most prestigious honor of all, the Heisman Trophy, will be handed out in New York City on Saturday.
After the four finalists were announced earlier this week, Vegas Insider has released new odds concerning who will take home the award for nation’s best player:
Alabama quarterback Bryce Young (-3000): The nation’s No. 1 team has the Heisman finalist with the best chance to take home the Heisman on Saturday, and as On3’s Charles Power pointed out, Young‘s performance to date has lived up to exceptions. Through 13 games, including the SEC Championship Game against the nation’s top defense in Georgia, Young has 4,322 yards, 43 touchdowns and four interceptions. He leads Power Five quarterbacks in the passing touchdown category. While Alabama players have won the Heisman three times since 2009, Young would be the first Crimson Tide quarterback to take home the award.
Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson (+2000): The only defensive player making the trip to New York, Hutchinson has been one of the most electrifying edge rushers in recent memory. Hutchinson topped his father’s single-season sack record at Michigan, notching 14 sacks on the year. Hutchinson was thrown into the limelight in recent weeks, as the Wolverines beat Ohio State for the first time since 2011, and they won the Big Ten Championship last weekend en route to their first College Football Playoff berth. Through the first 13 games, Hutchinson leads a Wolverines defense that ranks first in the Big Ten in scoring and fourth nationally. Fellow Michigan player Charles Woodson remains the only primarily defensive player to win the Heisman. Can Hutchinson be the second?

Michigan prepared to offer No. 1 recruit $10.5M over 4 years
Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett (+2500): Pickett is the most surprising name on the list, and it is clear his decision to return to college football for another year paid massive dividends. The New Jersey native has thrown for 4,319 yards, 42 touchdowns and seven interceptions as a part of a Pittsburgh offense which led the ACC in scoring for the first time since joining the conference in 2013. The Panthers averaged 43 points per game this season, an increase of 17.5 points per game since Pickett’s first year as a starter in 2018. A Peach Bowl win against Michigan State is the only thing standing between Pittsburgh and their first 12-win season since 1976, a year in which they won the national championship under head coach Johnny Majors. Oh, and Pickett has become a top-five quarterback in this year’s NFL Draft. Pretty good year for the former three-star recruit.
Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud (+3000): After an underwhelming start to his career in Columbus, Stroud has been nearly unstoppable under center. The redshirt freshman is tied with Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker for the best passer rating in the Power Five (182.2) this season, and he threw for 3,862 yards, 38 touchdowns and five interceptions. After returning from an AC joint injury on Oct. 2, the Ohio State star threw 30 touchdown passes and two picks in his next eight games. Both interceptions came against Nebraska. In that span, he had four games with five or more touchdown passes. Stroud will try to maintain the Buckeye’s winning record of 8-7 in Rose Bowl games when they take on Utah on New Year’s Day.
The Heisman Trophy ceremony will take place on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 8:00 p.m. ET on ESPN. The players who finished fifth through 10th will not be in attendance, but ESPN will air the results of all of the voting at 9:00 p.m. ET following the ceremony.
