Four-star EDGE Herbert Scroggins keeps the Hurricanes rolling with his commitment
Mario Cristobal and Miami’s hot streak continued on the recruiting trail on Friday. The latest to jump in the fold is On3 Industry four-star edge rusher Herbert Scroggins.
The Savannah (Ga.) Benedictine Military School standout chose to play his college football in Coral Gables over his other finalists in Auburn, Georgia Tech and North Carolina.
“The people, the family and just the overall place,” Scroggins said. Defensive ends coach Jason Taylor led the charge in recruiting the coveted defensive end.
“Coach Taylor, he’s a Hall of Famer.”
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Scroggins becomes commit No. 14 for the Hurricanes in the class of 2025. He is the fourth verbal of the week joining linebacker Ezekiel Marcelin, four-star offensive lineman Max Buchanan and touted cornerback Chris Ewald.
Scroggins took his official visit the weekend this past weekend.
“The overall place,” Scroggins doubled-down. “It’s a good feel. Not just the place but the people and coaches there. Everyone gave off great vibes. Being with the players, those were great vibes as well.”

Scroggins was trending towards Auburn until he took his last trip to Coral Gables.
“I saw my future,” Scroggins said. “With Miami it’s better with what I want to do in life.
“You got a Hall of Fame coach that can push you and probably make it to the league. I’m trying to go to the league. And we play the same position. And just academic wise, you have small classes. It’s better for you to study and get things done.”
Cristobal and company are certainly getting things done on the recruiting trail. Scroggins ranks as the On3 Industry’s No. 33 edge rusher.
Miami’s class ranked No. 17 nationally prior to Scroggins pledge.
As a junior Scroggins racked up 84 tackles, 12 sacks, 10 more stops for loss and 14 quarterback hurries.
