Holiday Bowl issues hilarious challenge after getting mocked for patch on USC, Louisville uniforms
The holiday season is a time for roasting chestnuts and other treats over an open fire. However, the 2023 Holiday Bowl and this year’s sponsor, DIRECTV, found themselves on the wrong side of a social media roasting session. But the bowl game representatives did not take the ribbing of fans lying down. Instead, they decided to have a little fun in the name of the Holiday Bowl spirit as well.
The DIRECTV Holiday Bowl social media page reposted a comment from a fan poking fun at the size of the patches placed on the uniforms of the two programs taking part in this year’s game, the USC Trojans and Louisville Cardinals. And in that repost, the bowl game officials issued a fun challenge saying, ‘For every 100 likes,’ they would make the patches on the uniform bigger. You can see that comment and the original post the DIRECTV Holiday Bowl was replying to in the image below.
And if you think they left it at that, you have another thing coming. Shortly after fans on social media caught wind of the hilarious challenge and began to like their post, they dropped another image with the patch made significantly larger for the world to see, not once but twice.
USC’s Miller Moss has huge first half in Holiday Bowl against Louisville
As far as the action on the field in the DIRECTV Holiday Bowl goes, it has been the Miller Moss show in the first half. Some experts and USC fans were concerned about how the offense would fare without Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Caleb Williams against the ACC championship runner-up this year. But in Williams’s absence, Moss has lit up the Louisville defense with a near-perfect two quarters of play.

USC leads Louisville at the half 28-14 thanks to the stellar play of the Trojans’ sophomore quarterback. Through the first half, Moss has completed 13-18 pass attempts for 218 yards and four passing touchdowns. Surprisingly, the talented young USC quarterback also leads the team in rushing yards, as he’s been credited with two carries for 13 yards.
If the first half of the DIRECTV Holiday Bowl is any indication of what the Trojans can expect out of Moss in the future, the program appears to be in great hands as they move conferences in 2024, leaving the Pac-12 behind to face the challenges of the Big Ten conference.
