Springfield, Massachusetts – The birthplace of basketball is the place to be in mid-January if you any part of the high school basketball ecosphere. Two massive events take place, the Hoop Hall Classic which is accompanied by the Hoop Hall Prep Showcase. Both events take place from January 11 through January 15.

Today, day two of the event, On3’s Jamie Shaw is at the Hoop Hall Prep Showcase. Let’s discuss the top performers.

The Hoop Hall Prep Showcase Website

On3 MVP: 4-star SG Joson Sanon (2025)

Joson Sanon came into this game with his last performance being a 46-point outburst earlier in the week. Sanon kept the confidence high, knocking down a flurry of shots early in the game. He showed the ability off the catch and off two and three dribble pull-ups. Sanon rebounded the ball at a high rate here, and he pushed the break to initiate the offense for his team. Sanon plays an efficient game. he does not do what he is not able and he takes what the defense gives him. The balance and footwork of Sanon’s jump shot are consistent and his release is clean. Sanon finished with 32 points, seven rebounds, and five steals while going 3-of-4 from three. Providence head coach Kim English was courtside, along with coaches from UConn, Marquette, Xavier, and others.

2. 3-star CG Chris Jeffrey (2025)

The toughness ran from start to finish with Chris Jeffrey. The 6-foot-3 guard had the ball in his hands, and he simply continued to make plays. Jeffrey got downhill when he wanted, this is normal for him. Today, it was the passing reads that were most impressive. He delivered on target and on time to multiple teammates, whether it is the simple short pass, a pass across the defense to the corner, or a pass leading a cutting teammate, Jeffrey made good reads. He also got to the free-throw line. The Lanham (MD) Mt. Zion Prep guard finished with 20 points, four rebounds, five assists, and two steals in the win.

3. PG Adriel Nyorha (2025)

This was my first live viewing of Adriel Nyorha and I could not help but to walk away impressed with his performance. Nyorha, a class of 2025 guard at Ottawa (CAN) Canada Top Flight moved the ball well. In fact, his passing was what really stood out with his performance. Nyorha did a great job of creating angles and passing opportunities to deliver on target and on tame. He had excellent touch on his passes, even if teammates were missing the opportunities. Nyorha played with a great pace, getting to his spots in the open court and in the half-court. While he surprisingly has no offers currently, he should be one that starts to pick up some traction soon.

4. 3-star SG Troy McKoy

We have become accustomed to the toughness that Troy McKoy consistently brings to the table in our viewings. The 6-foot-4 guard always seems to be in attack mode, getting into the teeth of the defense and making a play. McKoy has a natural touch and he can go and get the ball on the boards. The Woodstock (VA) Massanutten guard finished with a day-high 29 points and 13 rebounds, going 5-9 from three.

5. 4-star PF Oswin Erhunmwunse (Providence)

Oswin Erhunmwunse has electrifying athleticism. His pop can be game-changing around the basket, on both ends of the floor. He challenges every shot around the basket, with excellent timing and length. And on offense, he is a vertical floor spacer forcing the defense to stay attached on rolls to the basket or in the dunker spot. Erhunmwunse committed to Providence earlier this week, his future head coach Kim English was courtside along with an assistant coach to watch. On3’s No. 19 player in 2025 finished with 14 points, five rebounds, and a block in 20 minutes of play.

Other Hoop Hall Prep Showcase Standouts

Three-star PG Daniil Glaskov of Bradenon (FL) IMG Academy has a great frame, that you notice immediately. His broad shoulders and long arms should add good weight, almost instantaneously. The point guard also has excellent vision, able to spray passes, under duress, to open teammates, his vision and processing were very impressive. Glazkov knocked down shots from each level while creating opportunities for his team.

3-star SG Malachi Palmer (Maryland) of Lanham (MD) Mt. Zion Prep gives steady performances each time out. Palmer carries a physical build on his 6-foot-4 frame. The Maryland commitment does not ever seem rushed as he is comfortable on the ball or knocking down shots. He finished this one with 15 points, four rebounds, and three steals.

3-star SF Jayden Harris of Woodstock (VA) Massanutten has taken a huge step forward this season. The 6-foot-6 guard is comfortable shooting with range or getting out in transition and finishing above the ream. He has been a steady source of offense this season, and that continued today knocking down 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting. He also added eight rebounds.

C Steffano Allesso of Bridgeport (CT) Prep brings a physical presence to the floor. Listed at 7-foot-0 and every bit of 265 pounds, Allesso carves out space just by getting big and staying big. His skill is intriguing. With the ball in his hands, Allesso can create an advantage off the bounce or knock-down shots from multiple levels. The athleticism will be a question, but as he gets into a college system, and learns his game and the system, there are a lot of tools to work with. He finished this one with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and a block on 2-of-7 from three.

3-star C Mitchell Holmes (SMU) of Branson (MO) Link Year continues to improve his game. Listed at 6-foot-11, he has added good weight while still maintaining mobility. In this one, he was at his best running the floor. Holmes played good transition defense but he also showed good hands on the run, making plays. Holmes processed well in the half-court, finishing and distributing. His flashes are starting to become more consistent. The SMU signee finished with 17 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals while shooting 1-of-2 from three.

4-star C Ben Ahmed (2026) of Putnam (CT) Science Academy is a load around the basket. He combines a strong frame with great hands and touch to match his understanding of angles and footwork around the basket. Ahmed thrives with contact , especially going over his right shoulder. He has great touch completing numerous and-1 opportunities. Ahmed is a good area rebounderfinishing with 11 points and five rebounds in 17 minutes played.

3-star SG KJ Cochran (2025) of Pennsburg (PA) Perkiomen School has a smooth feel to his game. He has good positional size, listed at 6-foot-4, with long arms and a sturdy build. He is confident handling, shooting, and passing the ball in the half-court, and I liked the leadership qualities he showed gathering his team. Loyola-Chicago was among the schools watching.
