Hoophall Classic: No. 25 Long Island Lutheran (N.Y.) stymies La Lumiere (Ind.)

In the final game of the 2025 Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Mass., No. 25 Long Island Lutheran (N.Y.) used a balanced shooting performance to defeat La Lumiere (Ind.) 68-55.

The Crusaders shot 53.7 percent from the floor and had four players in double figures. Syracuse four-star shooting guard signee Kiyan Anthony led all scorers with 16 points.

The son of Carmelo Anthony shot 6-12 overall and also had two rebounds, two assists and a steal in 27 minutes. Penn State four-star combo guard signee Kayden Mingo was right behind 13 points, a team-high six boards and four assists. Junior four-star point guard Dylan Mingo added 12 points while Nico Onyekwere had 10 on a perfect 5-5 shooting night.

La Lumiere started slow and wasn’t able to recover. Lutheran took a 28-16 lead into halftime and then blew things open with a 24-point third quarter. The Lakers shot 35.4 percent and turned the ball over 10 times to Lutheran’s four.

UConn four-star SG signee Darius Adams led Lumiere in points with 19, nine of which came at the free throw line. He finished 4-15 from the floor. San Jose State CG signee Melvin Bell had 14 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

With the win, Long Island Lutheran, the No. 1 team in New York per the On3 Composite Rankings, is now 10-5 on the year. It leaves the Hoophall Classic with a 2-0 record, as it also took down Arizona Compass Prep on Sunday.

La Lumiere remains on a losing skid having played myriad elite programs from around the nation. The No. 5 team in Indiana is 5-11 on the season, though its as battle-tested as any heading into the back half of its schedule. The Lakers also rank as the No. 84 team in the nation.

Hoophall Classic Concludes

One of, if not the top midseason high school basketball event in the nation has now come to an end. Monday featured four final boys games, with Gonzaga (Md.), Columbus (Fla.), Compass Prep (Ariz.) and Long Island Lutheran all picking up wins.
