Houston defensive lineman, Ole Miss transfer Brandon Mack set to miss remainder of season with injury
The injury problems for Houston continue to add up.
Cougars defensive lineman Brandon Mack, a transfer from Ole Miss, is set to miss the rest of the season due to an upper body injury he suffered during Houston’s game against Rice last week, sources tell On3.
Mack posted tackles for loss in each of the Cougars’ first two games, including one during Houston’s season-opening win over UTSA.
Mack transferred to the Cougars after playing at Ole Miss from 2019 through last season. He played in six games for the Rebels last year.

The Cougars have also been without two starting defensive linemen, Chidozie Nwankwo and Jamaree Caldwell. Both suffered injuries during the season-opening win over UTSA and seem to be game-time decisions for Houston’s matchup with TCU on Saturday. The Cougars have also been dealing with injuries to other players such as running back Brandon Campbell, starting defensive back Antonio Brooks and fellow defensive back Noah Guzman.
Houston, which lost to Rice in double overtime last week, enters the matchup against TCU as a 7.5-point underdog. It’s the Big 12 opener for both teams.
