Tennessee earned the No. 5 seed in the Women’s SEC Tournament after going 10-6 in the SEC during the regular season. Alabama also went 10-6 in the league but beat the Vols head-to-head to earn the No. 4 seed.

When the two teams met earlier this season, Alabama earned a 72-56 victory in Tuscaloosa.

Tennessee has played well since that loss. While the Vols have a 4-3 record, the three losses were to No. 1 South Carolina twice and the defending national champions in LSU.

As for Alabama, the Crimson Tide closed out the regular season with a 78-71 win at Texas A&M to secure the No. 4 seed in the SEC Tournament.

Alabama is 4-1 in its last five games entering the SEC tourney, with the lone loss coming at South Carolina.

Speaking of the Gamecocks, South Carolina is the No. 1 seed in the women’s SEC tourney. The Gamecocks are opening the tournament against No. 9 seed Texas A&M after the Aggies beat No. 8 seed Mississippi State on Thursday.

Other games to be played on Friday include No. 7 seed Auburn against No. 2 seed LSU and No. 3 seed Ole Miss against No. 11 seed Florida.

South Carolina is the favorite to win the SEC Tournament, but LSU is right there. The Tigers nearly beat the Gamecocks in Baton Rouge earlier this season. Don’t sleep on Tennessee, either. The Vols have plenty of fans in Greenville and played South Carolina tough earlier this season.

It should be an entertaining weekend of basketball, including the rivalry showdown between Alabama and Tennessee on Friday afternoon. Tip off is set for 2:30 p.m.
