Howard transfer Blake Harper commits to Creighton

Former Howard standout Blake Harper has committed to Creighton out of the NCAA transfer portal, per On3’s Joe Tipton. Harper chose Creighton over the likes of Ohio State, LSU and a return to Howard.
Harper averaged 19.5 points per game (26th nationally) on a 44.7% clip last season, along with 6.2 rebounds per game, as well as 3.4 assists. He started in all 32 of the games he appeared in for the Bison during the 2024-25 season.
He originally entered the NCAA transfer portal on March 24, shortly after the Bison’s season ended in the conference tournament quarterfinals. Howard finished the season with a 12-20 record, including a 7-7 record against MEAC competition.
Harper logged five 30-point games during his freshman season. His career-best was a 35-point performance during an 80-79 overtime loss to Hampton on Feb. 1. He played 42 minutes during the contest, and scored 20 (20 of 22) of his points at the free throw line. Harper was an 82.5% free-throw shooter last season.
For his efforts, he was awarded 1st-Team All-MEAC, MEAC All-Freshman Team, and MEAC Rookie of the Year honors. Not to mention — Harper was also the conference player of the year overall during his freshman season.
His scoring numbers were bolstered due to his tendency to find himself at the charity stripe. He averaged 6.9 made free throws on 8.4 attempts per game, making him one of the best rim-running wings in this year’s portal cycle. He was also a 40 percent 3-point shooter during his freshman year.

Harper will now join a Creighton Bluejays squad coming off a run to the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament, defeating a tough Louisville squad in the first round before meeting top-seeded Auburn in their second matchup. They also made it to the finals of the Big East Conference tournament, ultimately falling to St. John’s.
