4-star Hudson Greer discusses Texas, Kansas State, UCLA
Hudson Greer is the No. 47 player in the 2025 On3 75. The 6-foot-6 wing scored his 1,000 career varsity point this season for Austin (TX) Lake Travis High.
“I’m a slasher right now, but I can step out and shoot the three,” Greer told On3. “My work with my ball handling has shown with my ability to get to the rack. Right now, I’m focused on improving my defense, so I’m watching a lot of Jimmy Butler. But, I also love the way Jayson Tatum scores it, both on the ball and off the ball.”
On3 caught up with four-star Hudson Greer after a recent live viewing to talk about his recruitment.
Greer talks recruiting
“UCLA, Texas, and Kansas State are my most recent offers,” Greer said.
UCLA: “I know the way they get their wings involved; they’re usually the team’s highest scoring players. I love the freedom Mick Cronin gives his guys with the ball and how he has the team together.”
Texas: “I get to go to more of their games because it is so close by, but just seeing those guys so up close and being in such a great environment stands out. Of course, I haven’t seen as many other schools as I have Texas, but I really like their environment. Watching Timmy Allen this year, I like how they used him. He was able to go on the perimeter and down on the post and just do work.”
Kansas State: “I love the way Coach Jerome Tang has all his guys together. Coach Ulrich (Maligi) has stayed in consistent contact with my dad, always communicating with him about everything that is going on. I love their dog mentality from start to finish, knowing everyone there is like that.”
“Right now, Indiana and Iowa are two schools that haven’t offered yet, but they’re in pretty regular contact with my dad,” Greer said.

Greer and St. Mary’s
“My dad played at St. Mary’s, so I grew up around them and going to a lot of their games,” Greer said.
Greer’s dad, Josh Greer, played at St. Mary’s from 1996-00. The 6-foot-7 forward started 67 games, scoring 895 career points. He averaged 11.1 points and 5.6 rebounds while shooting 35.8 percent from three his senior season.
“They’re for sure recruiting me,” Greer said. “I’ve known that program my entire life. I’ve known Randy Bennett basically my whole life. He’s a great coach and has had a lot of success. He’s been talking to my dad a lot, and he says they’re going to keep recruiting me.”
In his words
“I’m going to look closely at the way the coach interacts with his players,” Greer said. “For me, I don’t really care about the location. I can go to the cold, I can go to the hot; I just want a coach that I know, and trust will be there for everyone.
“For my game, especially being a slasher who can step out, a system where I can run the floor constantly fits my game. I definitely say I can thrive in the half-court offense. Just running the court and getting busy in transition is what I love to do.”
