Bauer, his replacement, came into the game and provided Sam Houston three of four passing for 46 yards during a scoreless third quarter. Coming into the game, he was 10 of 17 for 111 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Overall, Sam Houston is 5-1 and are looking to improve to 3-0 in Conference USA matchups. Western Kentucky also boasts and undefeated conference record alongside Liberty — who are undefeated — and Jax State. Beating the Hilltoppers on their home turf is a major priority at this point in the season. With their QB1 set to miss the entire second half — that only got harder.
Trailing 17-14 against Caden Veltkamp and WKU heading into the fourth quarter, the Bearkats will look to mount a comeback and remain atop the C-USA mountain. Not only that, but a win would secure six wins for Sam Houston — earning them the first-ever bowl berth in program history.
