Indiana has landed a commitment from Indianapolis (Ind.) Decatur Central On300 cornerback Kasmir Hicks.

The four-star Hicks chose to play for head coach Curt Cignetti and the Hoosiers over his other finalists in Cincinnati, Louisville, Missouri and Vanderbilt. He is commit No. 4 for Cignetti and and Indiana and was recruited by cornerbacks coach Rod Ojong.

“I love what they have going,” Hicks said. “They’re building something special in Bloomington and I can’t wait to be a part of it.

“I have great relationships with the coaches and every time I was there it just felt like home. Just seeing Coach Ojong and Cig coach their players and even from being coached when I went to camp there, they coach hard and I know Coach Ojong and the rest of the staff and program can develop me and help me achieve my dreams.”

Indiana trended early for Hicks commitment

The On3 Industry tabs Hicks as the No. 1 recruit in the state. He’s On3’s No. 26 cornerback and No. 273 prospect overall. He has spent a lot of time on the Bloomington campus.

“It’s amazing!” Hicks has said in the past. “To see how fast Coach Cig and the staff has turned this program around. They execute and do their job. Coach Cig and the team mean business and it shows. The staff has always preached “New Indiana” since they’ve got here and it’s definitely on full display.”

Hicks loved how the program made history during the fall and he return in the spring.

“It’s always good to be back on campus,” Hicks said. “Getting to watch practice and see how hard Coach Ojong coaches his players was great. What excited me the most was being able to watch the early enrollees practice and see them succeeding and making themselves at home and seeing Coach Ojong take them under his wing. Soon that could be me.”

Before Hicks knows it, it will be him.

As a junior Hicks was one of the state’s top three-way players. He racked up nearly 2,000 all-purpose yards including 945 yards receiving and 13 scores, 479 yards rushing and five touchdowns, two kickoff returns for scores and 32 tackles, five interceptions and two pick sixes. That gave him 22 touchdowns for the seasons en route to a state championships.

Hicks boasts a 4.3 GPA.
