Indiana State infielder Randal Diaz has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned.

Diaz enters the transfer portal following three impressive seasons with the Sycamores. Named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper in 2022, a MVC All-Conference First Team selection and the MVC Tournament Most Outstanding Player in 2023, and to the Lexington Regional All-Tournament Team this past season.

In his true freshman season Diaz appeared in 47 games with 45 starts at both third and first base. Finishing the 2022 season with .304 batting average with 55 hits in his 181 at-bats. Also leading the team with 25 extra-base hits and 37 RBIs.

As a sophomore played in all 62 games of the 2023 season with 61 starts at shortstop, leading the team with 74 hits. Diaz also led Indiana State with 15 doubles, ending the season with a .297 batting average, 10 home runs, and 36 RBIs.

He played particularly well to close out 2023, posting a nine game hitting streak to close out May and start June along with a 20-game on-base streak to finish the season. Ending the MVC Tournament with 10 hits, 3 RBIs, and 6 runs in five games and the NCAA Tournament with six hits, 2 RBIs, and 3 runs in the Terre Haute Regional and the Fort Worth Super Regional.

This past season was another strong one for Diaz with an even stronger finish, batting .360 as the Sycamores leadoff batter with 91 hits and 18 home runs. But in the final month of the season he batted .425 with 34 hits, 8 home runs, and 19 RBIs. Ending the year with a career-best 32-game hitting streak and a 38-game on-base streak that lasted through the Lexington Regional.

The Toa Alta, Puerto Rico native parts ways with the program following the resignation of head coach Mitch Hannahs. Who has spent the past 11 seasons at the helm for the Sycamores and was recently named the new head man at USF. With Diaz likely entering the portal as highly coveted prospect ahead of the 2025 season after opening up his recruitment.
