Iowa lands commitment from 4-star WR Terrence Smith
North Aurora (Ill.) West Aurora four-star wide receiver Terrence Smith has committed to Iowa, choosing the Hawkeyes over Minnesota.
Smith took an official visit to Iowa City over the June 21 weekend one week after officially visiting the Gophers.
“I came down to two schools, Minnesota and Iowa, after visiting and going on my officials and being around the coaches and getting a good feel of the programs,” Smith told On3 last month.
The 6-foot-4, 185-pound Smith broke down his visit to Iowa with On3 back in June.
“I basically got a chance to spend time and get close with the coaches and learn what they’re about,” Smith told HawkeyeReport.com. “A highlight for me was getting to sit down with the head coach and just talk about football.”

He also got the chance to spend time with current players on the visit.
“My host was Jarriett Buie,” said Smith. “I got a chance to hang out with the players and get to know them and how they like it at Iowa.”
Smith is the nation’s No. 327 overall prospect, No. 49 wide receiver and No. 7 recruit from Illinois in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
On3 is significantly higher on Smith than the other major recruiting services. He ranks No. 172 nationally and No. 26 among wide receivers in the 2025 On300.
