Iowa, Oklahoma, Seton Hall, USC to participate in inaugural Thanksgiving tournament in San Diego
The field for the inaugural Rady Children’s Invitational college basketball tournament has been announced. The event will take place Nov. 23-24, according to the announcement.
Iowa, USC, Oklahoma and Seton Hall will participate in the event, which will be broadcast on FOX Sports. The full tournament will take place at LionTree Arena on the campus of UC San Diego and is part of a partnership with Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego. Matchups and tip-off times will be announced at a later day, the announcement said.
“FOX Sports is thrilled to build on its relationship with Sports San Diego and showcase the Rady Children’s Invitational for a national audience over the coming years,” FOX Sports vice president collegiate sports Derek Crocker said in a statement. “We look forward to adding these elite matchups to our robust college basketball schedule.”
It’s an impressive first field for the tournament. Iowa and USC are both poised to make the NCAA Tournament this year after impressive seasons. The Hawkeyes — fresh off a thrilling comeback victory over Michigan State — are 18-11 overall and 10-8 in Big Ten play entering the final week of the regular season. The Trojans, meanwhile, are 21-8 overall and 13-5 in Pac-12 play with two games left before the conference tournament.

Oklahoma and Seton Hall, however, aren’t having as successful runs this year. The Sooners are 14-15 overall and just 4-12 in Big 12 play to sit in last place in the standings in year two of the Porter Moser era. The Pirates, led by new head coach Shaheen Holloway, are in the middle of the pack in the Big East this year with a 16-13 overall record and a 9-9 mark in conference action.
All four teams are gearing up for the stretch run before their respective conference tournaments tip off next week.
