Malachi Singleton: Next in line for Corky Kell recruiting boast?
When asked about his team heading into 2021, North Cobb High School (Ga.) head coach Shane Queen stood and pointed to his quarterback Malachi Singleton seated across the table from him.
He proclaimed, Singleton the face of the program. The program has seen a ton of new additions this summer.
Georgia commits Marquis Groves-Killebrew and De’Nylon Morrissette transferred in. Kentucky commit Andre Stewart and highly sought-after wide receiver Samuel Mbake headline an influx of new faces.
North Cobb will host powerhouse Buford on Friday night. It will be an opportunity for Singleton to take center stage and cement himself as one of the better signal-callers in Georgia.
The story of Oscar Delp comes to mind to many when thinking of players that had breakout performances on the Corky stage. Delp is now the third-ranked tight end in On3’s top 300 in 2022.
Before Delp’s two-touchdown performance in last year’s opener, he didn’t have an offer. By the next game, Delp had six from some major Power Five programs.
Singleton holds some major offers already. Georgia, Georgia Tech, Miami, Louisville, North Carolina State, UCF and Virginia Tech have all offered the 6-foot-1, 220-pound quarterback.
Malachi Singleton destined for a recruiting explosion soon?
That list could grow after a few good performances against a loaded Buford team and a Milton program in week two that features the top player in the state of Georgia in the class of 2023 Lebbeus Overton.
“I just want to show everybody all of the things that I can do,” Singleton said. “I want to put on a show… I’m excited about being on T.V. That’s always good. I’m ready to get out there with my teammates and see what we’re all about.”
Recruiting isn’t Singlton’s focus.
“I feel like if I go out and perform, everything will come in due time,” Singleton said. “I’m not really even focused on that right now; I’m just trying to go out and there get a win for my team.”

Winning has been on his mind all summer. When asked about his expectations, Singleton said state championship.
Winning is important and as the quarterback of one of the state’s best programs, the offers could just be beyond a run a state title in 2021.
“I’m still 100 percent confident,” Singleton said. “It’s state or bust for us. That’s what we’re going for. It’s state championship or bust.”
Where does Singleton’s recruitment stand currently?
Like many 2023 stars, Singleton is waiting for September 1 to see which schools will begin reaching out to him first.
This summer Singleton camped at Ohio State, Clemson, though neither program has offered, yet. Ohio State is seen by Singleton as a solid fit. He enjoyed his time with the Buckeyes’ coaching staff back in June.
“Their coaching staff is really unique,” Singleton said. “Their culture is unique. I thought they had one of the best coaching staff that I visited…I feel like their offense fits my skill set, so I feel it would be a great fit for me.”
Singleton took unofficial visits to UCF and Georgia.
Patience is high on Singleton’s list in his recruiting process as of now.
“I definitely think it’ll pick up some more, especially after these games,” Singleton said. “I’m just flowing through the process right now.”
