Jabari Smith wears LSU football jersey on the sidelines at LSU vs. UCLA
Former Auburn star Jabari Smith, Jr. was in attendance for the UCLA-LSU game on Saturday. And he was wearing a jersey that might surprise Auburn fans. He was seen on the sidelines in an LSU jersey, one of Auburn’s rivals. Here’s the picture of him before the game started.
The Tigers came out in the second half and separated themselves on Saturday for a comfortable, 34-17 win.
LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier was sharp yet again, completing 32 of his 44 passes. One of the highlights was a beautiful 45-yard touchdown strike to receiver Kyle Parker down the right sideline. Parker somehow managed to stay on his feet, stumble into the end zone, and not turn the ball over.
LSU freshman running back Caden Durham scored on a 35-yard screen pass, putting his electrifying speed in the open field on fine display. Tigers receiver Aaron Anderson continues to be a man of consistency for the receiving corps. He hauled in six catches for 75 yards on Saturday.
UCLA quarterback Ethan Garbers threw for 281 yards and two touchdowns for the Bruins, but lost a fumble in the first half and threw an interception in the second half. The LSU defense surrendered 17 points in the first half, but responded in the second half, completely shutting out the Bruins for the win.

LSU star linebacker Harold Perkins was among the many players who got injured on Saturday. Tigers head coach Brian Kelly said after the game that it was a knee issue, but there will need to be more tests done. Perkins was injured after lowering his shoulder to make a tackle. He stayed down on the field in pain and immediately got attention from the LSU staff. Cameras showed him eventually heading to the locker room with the Tigers medical staff.
There was some intense heat in the game. Temperatures were in the 90s and the heat was only made worse by the humidity. Many fans had to receive medical attention, with some people even passing out in the stands. Following the game, LSU head coach Brian Kelly commented on the situation.
“We would prefer later games, but we are beholden to what the national (TV) audience is,” Kelly said in an article written by the Associated Press. “I feel bad and I hope everyone is okay. I did see visually that there weren’t many fans in the stands (across from LSU’s bench) because the sun was pounding on them.”
