Florida State trending to flip 4-star Georgia LB commit Jadon Perlotte
Buford (Ga.) four-star linebacker Jadon Perlotte committed to Georgia back in December 2022, marking a major in-state recruiting win for Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs.
But since then, programs haven’t given up in their pursuit of the top-50 2025 prospect, and Perlotte hasn’t been shy about visiting other programs. In the first half of 2023, Perlotte made stops at Alabama, Florida State, Miami, Texas A&M, USC, UCLA, Tennessee and Oregon.
This summer, he returned back to Georgia and also visited Auburn.
The Bulldogs have worked to hang onto him, but things are trending away from Smart and Co., according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). After the latest industry updates, Florida State is now heavily favored to flip Perlotte, with the RPM putting their chances of doing so at 92.8 percent.
Perlotte has yet to announce any sort of final decision date, and just last week, he told On3’s Jeremy Johnson that he still felt the same way about UGA as he did when he committed
“I’ve been taking visits around everyone and checking everywhere out but I’m committed and I’ve felt the same way since I committed,” said Perlotte, the No. 38 recruit in the 2025 class.
Florida State has been a thorn in Georgia’s side
If the Seminoles are able to pull off the flip, it would mark another key recruiting win for Mike Norvell over Smart in the past few months. FSU now has four of the top 10 prospects in Georgia committed, including Five-Star Plus+ safety KJ Bolden, who chose the ‘Noles over the Bulldogs and Auburn on Saturday night.

Norvell and Co. also flipped five-star tight end Landen Thomas away from the Bulldogs in April after he’d been an early 2024 commit for Smart.
Georgia still holds the No. 1 overall recruiting class in 2024 and has the No. 2 class in 2025, but the Seminoles have built some major momentum — not only with targets in Georgia but also their own in-state targets that the Bulldogs have been beating them for in the past.
In July, FSU beat UGA for five-star Venice (Fla.) cornerback Charles Lester III and coveted four-star offensive tackle Jonathan Daniels.
Florida State’s class ranks No. 4 nationally in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings after the commitment of Bolden. And Norvell and Co. have already locked in commitments from six of the nation’s top 60 recruits, something FSU hasn’t done since 2017. In that cycle, FSU signed three Five-Star Plus+ recruits and finished with eight top-100 commitments and the nation’s No. 6 class.
