4-star F Jaion Pitt jumps into his recruitment, talks Oregon, SMU, Mississippi State, and more
Jaion Pitt came in at No. 97 in the recent 2025 On3 150 update. The 6-foot-7 forward from Toronto had a standout performance at the NBA’s Basketball Without Borders event during All-Star Weekend. The four-star at Glendale (AZ) Canyon International Academy has averaged 12.8 points. 7.4 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks while shooting 36.8 percent from three on Nike’s EYBL Scholastic Circuit,
“I’m a high-energy and defense-first player,” Pitt told On3. “I do the little things well, rebound, and I like to attack and finish well at the rim. I’ve been working a lot on my shooting and I’ve shot it well this year. I watch a lot of Kawhi Leonard, I like how he plays getting to his spots and being a pest on defense.”
On3 was able to catch up with four-star Jaion Pitt after a recent live viewing to get updated on his recruitment.
“I haven’t taken any visits yet, and don’t have any planned yet,” Pitt said. “I’d say I’m hearing the most from Oregon right now, they’ve probably prioritized me the most.”
Pitt Talks Oregon
“They are in contact with me a lot,” Pitt said. “They’re always telling me about their program and how I fit in with what they do and how they play. They always check in with me, really good with communication. They’ll show me how they play, their playstyle, and how much they focus on defense.”
Jaion Pitt Talks Recruitment
“I also have offers from Mississippi State, SMU, and Arizona State,” Pitt said.
MISSISSIPPI STATE: “I talk with them a good amount, they stay in touch pretty regularly. I’ve watched them play a few times, they’re a good team. They like my versatility, they call me a bigger guard and I can play the one through four with them. My relationship is pretty good with the staff, they’re good at communication.”
SMU: “We went there as a team, so I’ve visited there with my team. They’ve communicated with me a good bit since we went on that visit. The campus was really nice. I liked their gym and their facilities a lot. They’re going to a new league next year too.”

ARIZONA STATE: “I know a couple of their players there now. My teammate (Amier Ali) is committed there now. I rebound the ball really well and I love to defend, that fits in with how they play.”
In His Words
“I don’t really have a time frame yet on when I want to start scheduling visits,” Pitt said. “I’ll probably start to look at it more as I get into next season, maybe a little at the end of this year.
“I want to go somewhere that I know I can fit in and be comfortable. I’ll want to look at the location of where I will be and how active I can be. I want to go somewhere I can contribute early and just keep getting better.
“I’ll want to play for a good team that is big on defense. I like playing defense. I can fit, I feel like, with any type of play style on offense.
