Elite 2026 EDGE Jamarion Carlton now visiting Texas A&M this weekend
There’s been a change of visit plans for Temple (Texas) four-star EDGE Jamarion Carlton, one of the top Lone Star State recruits in the 2026 cycle.
Originally, Carlton had locked in a visit to Florida State this weekend. On Thursday night, On3’s Chad Simmons reported that the blue-chipper is now set to make his way back to Texas A&M, instead.
The Aggies have already made plenty of movement in Carlton’s recruitment, and he’s now set to return to College Station for their junior day weekend. Behind new head coach Mike Elko, the A&M staff has already made quite the impression.
“The new coaching staff that they brought in are good people and they know how to keep people together,” Carlton told On3 earlier this month. “They helped them work together more and they were very understanding.”
Carlton saw three A&M games during the 2024 season. His time at Kyle Field has only made the in-state program more of an appealing destination.
“I like the environment and how they welcome you in,” Carlton said. “The environment and the atmosphere are crazy. It’s a very enjoyable place to be.”
Aggies eyeing an elite 2026 class
While Texas is packed with elite talent, A&M’s 2026 class hasn’t focused on in-state recruiting as much to this point. Of the 10 commits in the mix for Elko and his staff, just two — Mesquite North Forney three-star cornerback Ryan Gilbert and Mesquite Horn three-star safety Markel Ford — are from Texas.
Each of the top three pledges in the class hail from Georgia. Douglas County four-star wide receiver Aaron Gregory, Douglas County four-star EDGE Jordan Carter and Fairburn Langston Hughes four-star tight end Xavier Tiller all committed in the span of a week after watching the Aggies defeat LSU in late October.
A&M recruited California very well in the 2025 cycle and that’s already the case in 2026, too. Carson Leuzinger four-star linebacker Samu Moala, Long Beach Lakewood four-star tight end Caleb Tafua and Bellflower St. John Bosco four-star athlete Madden Williams are all in the class and rank as top-20 prospects at their respective positions.

The class, which currently ranks No. 6 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, also features Provo (Utah) Corner Canyon four-star quarterback Helaman Casuga, the No. 9 QB in the 2026 cycle. Casuga is former high school teammates with recent five-star WR signee Jerome Myles.
Carlton has other visits scheduled in the coming weeks
Texas A&M will look to make another move in Carlton’s recruitment this weekend, but the 6-foot-4 EDGE has other visits on the docket, too.
He’s slated to return to Texas before the end of January and is also planning to see USC on Feb. 1. Both programs, along with A&M, cracked his top 10 list back in October.
“I’m looking at schools to see if they’re a fit for me and if it’ll be a good place for me education-wise in terms of what I want to do,” Carlton told On3 in August. “I am studying everything about the opportunities there. I look around a lot when I visit schools.”
Carlton is the No. 65 overall prospect and No. 9 EDGE in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
On3 ranks him higher than other recruiting services. He checks in as the No. 30 recruit, No. 5 EDGE and No. 2 player in Texas in the updated 2026 On300.
