2025 Top-25 recruit Jamier Jones recaps visits, talks recruitment

Jamier Jones is not only one of the top players in his position, but in the country. The 6-foot-6, 210-pound small forward out of Oak Ridge High School in Orlando is currently ranked as the No. 16 overall player in the class, according to the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The recruitment process has started to heat up for the junior out of Florida. I caught up with Jones to get a recap of his latest visits and get a look into how his recruitment process is going.

Jones recaps visits to LSU, South Carolina, & Providence

Over the past couple of months, Jamier Jones hit the road for a few college visits. He took a pair of unofficials — LSU and South Carolina — and most recently visited Providence for his first official.

LSU: “It was an unofficial visit. The atmosphere was crazy. The fanbase was crazy. A lot of the people there were welcoming so that’s really good to have around you. I’ve known coach Kaine for a minute. He’s been the one keeping in contact with me. It’s been good. He checks in on me every week, in school, off the court and on the court.”

South Carolina: “South Carolina was good. It was an unofficial visit too. That was just to see if I wanted to come back (for an official) and I definitely want to. The coaches were very welcoming too, even the head coach. They talk to me every week and they came to my first game of the season so it was good to see him pop out. It’s going good with them too.”

Providence: “That was an official visit. That was fun. That was definitely fun. I went up there not knowing anything, and they turned my mind around. It was crazy. The fanbase was crazy. Everything was crazy. I definitely liked that visit too. The coaches were keeping it real with me from the start. I love coach English. He’s a nice dude for sure. A good person to be around.”

Jones talks other schools involved

Along with the three schools mentioned above, Jamier Jones says he hears from the following schools on a weekly basis — Ohio State, Kansas, Houston, and Texas.

Ohio State: “Brice Sensabaugh came from our program (FL Rebels) so I watched him. Just seeing Brice and where he came from with us, playing against him, and seeing him go to (Ohio State), and then now to the league. So its definitely something to keep an eye on.”

Kansas: “It’s a blue blood, you can’t go wrong with that for sure. I mess with the coach. He stays in contact as much as he can.”

Houston: “Coach Sampson keeps in a lot of contact with me. He was one of the first people to call me as soon as the live period opened. They’ve been staying in touch pretty hard.”

Texas: “As soon as the live period opened, they came to a lot of my practices. Before the season even started. So that was good.”

What he’s looking for in a school

Jones says he likely won’t take anymore college visits until after the high school season is over. He also doesn’t have a timeline as to when he’d like to knock out a commitment, saying he “doesn’t want to rush anything.”

He does know what he’s looking for in a future college, however.

“I definitely have to have a good relationship with the coaches, you always gotta have that. I want to make sure I go to a school that fits me right. Just going in there, working hard, and making sure they get me to my ultimate goal which is the league. And not just get to the league, but stay there. So whichever school is the best fit for that.”
