Picayune (Miss.) Picayune Memorial four-star linebacker Jamonta Waller is one of the most sought after defensive recruits in the country. With his recruitment heating up, Waller is getting a clearer idea of what schools he wants to consider.

Waller announced his top schools of Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Penn State, Tennessee and Texas A&M Saturday afternoon.

Ole Miss holds a commanding lead to land Waller, the No. 80 overall prospect and No. 7 linebacker, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. The Rebels currently sit with a 77% chance to land his pledge.

Waller currently has four official visits set for June. He’ll visit Auburn (June 2), Penn State (June 9), Florida (June 16) and Georgia (June 23).

“It’s an everyday thing for me,” Waller told On3 in early March. “It’s a great to have so many schools are showing me that want me and making me feel like a top priority. That’s important to me.

“I am looking at other things too, but hearing that I am wanted makes an impact on me.”

Waller breaks down his top school

Alabama: “Whenever I talk to Coach (Coleman) Hutzler, he tells me that I have the potentialy and ability to be Alabama’s next great linebacker. He wants to make that happen and I like hearing that.”

Auburn: “Coach (Ron) Roberts calls me daily and I hear from his whole staff constantly whether its messages or phone calls. They tell me how of a need I am for their defense which is an amazing feeling.”

Florida: “I first met Coach (Austin) Armstrong when he was at Southern Miss and we’ve had a special relationship since. Going all the way back there, he’s been saying the same things about me and that’s a must for him to coach me.”

Georgia: “Coach (Glenn) Schumann says that he doesn’t just want to develop me on the field. We talk a lot and says he wants to also develop me off of the field. With both of us being back-to-back champions, I feel like we have the same qualities and ambition to win.”

LSU: “LSU has been my dream school since I was a little kid and I always used to dream of what it would be like to wear that Tiger uniform. I also have a great relationship with Coach (John) Jancek and he’s a great coach.”
