Silsbee (Texas) High four-star combo guard Jared Harris is the No. 67 overall player in the On3 2024 Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. The 6-foot-3 rising senior updated his college recruitment with On3 while at the Pangos All-American Camp.

Harris has yet to take any official visits, but says he’s planning on setting one of up with the Kansas Jayhawks soon.

Harris talks Kansas, other programs involved

“I like how they run their sets,” Harris said of Kansas. “The coaches, they don’t just play through one player. They play through team play. (Kansas) has a good vibe.”

Along with Kansas, Harris says Kansas State, Auburn, Texas, and Alabama are also involved in his recruitment. He broke down each of those programs.

Kansas State: “They’re a well-playing, shooting team. I love to shoot the ball so I think I’m a good fit.”

Auburn: “They’re a guard-focused team and that’s what I like about them. They rely on guards a lot.”

Texas: “They’re a fast-paced team and they get it up and down the court, and that’s what I love.”

Alabama: “They get guys to the league and they also play fast.”

Harris said a visit to SMU is also likely. He says he would like to make a decision by the beginning of the upcoming school year.

Scouting Report

“With Jared Harris it’s about the upside. He has a projectable frame with good size. He has long arms and is very twitchy which helps him off off the bounce. He will need to continue adding strength, which will help on both sides of the floor. Harris is a confident jump shooter, from three, especially when his feet are set. This opens up his ability to get downhill and attack close outs. Harris has a solid handle, you’d like to see him develop some counters however. On defense you like the upside with his measurable. He will need to continue getting game reps, working on his decision making. The tools are in there and the upside is clear. Watch to see how he continues to develop. Harris’ best basketball could be just ahead.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
