2023 PG Jared McCain goes from unranked to heavily recruited
Jared McCain’s recruiting stock is red-hot.
The 6-foot-3 junior point guard out of Corona (Calif.) Centennial went from unranked by most recruiting services to heavily recruited by college basketball coaches. Some evaluators have put even them in their top 50 nationally.
After an extremely successful summer, McCain has 12 offers from schools like USC, Lousiville, Kansas, San Diego State and Houston. After beating top-ranked Sierra Canyon, McCain went on to win the state championship in California. Before that game, McCain was just a local name. But after he jumped onto the top prospects’ board for most sports media outlets.
EYBL helps Jared McCain shoot up charts
In the EYBL circuit, Jared McCain found quick popularity because of his fun-loving personality. Several of his Tik Tok videos he posts before every EYBL went viral. But more importantly, his game stood out as well.
McCain averaged 20.5 points and led his Team WhyNot to the 16U championship title. McCain was poised and ready to show the world who he was. Included in his stats were an average of almost five assists and just over four rebounds. McCain took to the EYBL stage and used that opportunity to prove to those that passed on him he is the real deal.

NBA Top 100 camp helps stock, too
After Peach Jam, Jared McCain was invited to this summer’s NBPA Top 100 camp. Just like he did at EYBL, he excelled when presented with the opportunity. In just six games at the camp, McCain finished in the top 10 in scoring, averaging 11.3 points a game.
With a mass following on his social media, McCain found the limelight and continues to build his resume and brand. It’ll be interesting to see this season if McCain can go back to back and make history at Centennial and get a back-to-back state championship.
