Notre Dame has enjoyed a lot of success as the season has progressed, and veteran infielder Jared Miller just revealed the secret to the Irish getting hot down the stretch.

In Miller’s eyes, Notre Dame’s work and preparation is all beginning to show on the field. The Irish are focused on competing when they take the field, and the fans and atmosphere of postseason baseball gives the team an additional edge on gameday.

“I just think at this point in the season, kind of all the training you’ve done the whole entire year shows itself out on the field,” Miller said of Notre Dame’s run. “I missed a little bit of time, but once I got back in there I turned into compete mode. When you get out there and there’s all the fans and all the pressure, you kind of just zero in and just the pitcher and the ball and you. And you just want to find a barrel. And the atmosphere and the adrenaline usually helps out.”

Miller hit a home run and went 2-for-3 at the plate on Friday in Notre Dame’s 7-3 victory over Texas in the College World Series. On the season, he is batting .278 with five home runs, 24 RBI, five doubles, 24 walks and nine stolen bases.

This year is Miller’s fifth at Notre Dame, as he began his collegiate career during the 2017-2018 season. In his career, he is a .242 career hitter with ten home runs and 86 RBI.

After defeating Texas on Friday, Notre Dame advanced to the winners bracket and will face off against Oklahoma at 7 p.m. ET on Sunday night. The winner will become one win away from advancing to the College World Series championship round, while the loser will have to fight out of the losers bracket.

Whichever team loses on Sunday night will face off against the winner of Texas-Texas A&M in the losers bracket on Tuesday. The winner of that contest will then have to beat Sunday night’s winner twice to advance.
