4-star Jarin Stevenson sets official visits; updates recruitment
Jarin Stevenson is the No. 19 player in the 2024 On3 Consensus. The 6-foot-9 forward from Pittsboro (NC) Seaforth High is averaging 20.4 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 3.3 blocks per game this season.
“I feel like I have everything in my bag,” Stevenson told On3. “I can rebound, block shots, score from the perimeter, attack the basket, everything. My jump shot has continued to get better; it is a weapon now, and the same with my ball handling. My confidence is always high now; I watch a lot of Giannis (Antetokounmpo); he’s a beast out there, the way he dominates.”
College coaches showed up to watch the four-star at last week’s Chick Fil A Classic. On3 spoke with Jarin Stevenson after a recent live viewing to talk about visits and to update his recruitment.
“I’ve taken an official visit to Georgetown,” Stevenson said. “I have an official set with Missouri for late January; that’s all that’s set for right now.
Stevenson talks visits
Georgetown: “Patrick Ewing is a funny guy; he and all the coaches have a great relationship over there. Coach Ewing wants me to be the next him. He told me he was going to do everything he could for me to become the next him and be as great as he was.”
Missouri: “If I do decide to commit over there, he said I can come in and be the man. They would do whatever they could to put me in the best position to make the NBA. I like their energy and the way they hustle on defense.”
Stevenson talks recruiting
“I’m planning on doing something with UNC, Virginia, and maybe NC State to see what they have to offer,” Stevenson said.
Virginia: “Coach (Tony) Bennett and the whole coaching staff really, they’re great. Their morals and everything about them are just great. I pride myself on defense, and they’re known for their team defense. They play a little slower for sure, but they preach taking the right shot, and I like that type of basketball.”

UNC: “I’ve been over there quite a bit; it’s close by. Coach Hubert Davis is great; he’s been really kind. I like their run and guy style and how they’re great on offense. It stood out how supportive they are, their fan base. Their fans are so passionate; I like that about UNC. They always get a big turnout for their games. The community has been great, and they’ve been treating me kindly as a recruit.”
NC State: “Coach (Kevin) Keatts is great; he’s been really nice to me. I’ve watched a couple of their games; Jarkel Joiner goes crazy, and Terquavion Smith is good too.”
“I’m hearing a lot from South Carolina, they’ve been hitting me up, and their coach has been a few of my games,” Jarin Stevenson said. “Kentucky has been talking to me a little bit. I’m open to anything; I’m looking into every school as they come up.”
In his words
“I’m going to be looking for a great community and a coaching staff,” Stevenson said. “I want to go somewhere I feel welcomed and where I will have the best chance to make it to the NBA.
“I’ll want to go into a system that showcases all of my skills. I want to take my basketball career as far as possible, so I’d like to play for a coach that will put me in the best position to make it to the NBA. I’ll either narrow it down or decide by the end of the summer.”
