Cal 4-star QB commit Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele locks in Oregon official visit
Oregon is one of the newcomers in the recruitment of Ewa Beach (Hi.) James Campbell four-star quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, but its certainly in the mix for his pledge.
After landing an offer from the Ducks last month, Sagapolutele is now expected to take an official visit to Eugene this weekend when they host Illinois, On3’s Steve Wiltfong confirms.
The current California commit has continued to see his stock rise throughout the summer and an impressive senior season to this point. He pledged to the Golden Bears back in July, but is now giving things another look with offers from Oregon and Georgia now also on the table.
At the beginning of October, Oregon insiders Justin Hopkins and Max Torres each logged picks in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine in favor of the Ducks flipping Sagapolutele away from Cal. Head coach Dan Lanning, offensive coordinator and QBs coach Will Stein and the rest of the Oregon staff are now to set to try and make an in-person splash with the left-handed signal-caller, who called the Big Ten program his “dream school.”
“Being able to get on the phone with Coach Dan Lanning, Coach Will Stein, is actually just really a blessing ’cause Oregon’s been my dream school ever since I was young,” Sagapolutele told Torres after landing his offer. “It’s just so surreal for me to see how far all my God-given talents have gotten me. Just being able to receive an offer from Oregon—it’s a very surreal moment.”

Sagapolutele is the No. 185 overall recruit and No. 15 QB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the top-ranked player in Hawaii.
Through the first seven games in his senior season, the lefty tallied over 2,200 yards through the air, leading to 38 touchdowns and just a pair of interceptions. His stock has continued to rise since impressing at the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles this summer. He was named a top performer following day one of the event by On3’s Charles Power.
“The Hawaii native flashed one of the stronger arms on hand, easily generating velocity on downfield and far hash throws. Sagapolutele was one of the co-winners of the Rail Shot challenge at the end of the workout along with Husan Longstreet, showing the ability to repeatedly drive the ball into a small windows downfield,” Power wrote.
Oregon has had a QB commit in its 2025 class for well over a year, as San Diego Lincoln four-star Akili Smith Jr. pledged back in July of 2023. With the Ducks set to get Sagapolutele on campus, though, they’re clearly eyeing a potential second signal-caller this cycle.
