4-star Jase Richardson breaks down visits & recruitment
Jase Richardson is the No. 38 player in the 2024 On3 Consensus. Richardson is now back to playing full speed after missing close to eight months with a knee injury.
“I’m an all-around playmaker,” Richardson told On3. “I can score at all three levels. Taking care of the ball is one of the most important things to me, but I’m an all-around playmaker. Having surgery eight months ago, I worked a lot on my ball handling and getting shots up every day. I try to take from Kyrie (Irving) with his handle and footwork and Russ (Westbrook) with his intensity and tenacity.”
The four-star is the son of former 12-year pro Jason Richardson. On3 caught up with Jase Richardson after a recent live viewing at the Tarkanian Classic to talk about visits and his recruitment.
“I’ve recently taken my first official visit to Michigan State,” Richardson said. “I’ve taken unofficial visits to USC, Washington, Cal, and Arkansas.”
Richardson talks recruitment
Michigan State: “I was able to see how tight the family is there. Everybody involved with the program, all the alumni and the current guys on the team, they are just like one big family there. They want their point guards to facilitate and get to the basket when they can. I think I fit that, most definitely.”
Southern California: “They love to play five out and let their guards do their work. They give their point guards a lot of freedom but play together as a team.”
California-Berkley: “Cal was amazing. My favorite part was meeting the team and being able to be a part of what they do every day.”
Arkansas: “My favorite part of that visit was the fans, to be real. They are die-hard and are definitely down for their Hogs. It was amazing to see the atmosphere out there.”

Washington: “That was my very first unofficial visit. The culture, the legacy that has been paved over there, is pretty amazing.”
“We’re hearing from schools like Cincinnati and Kentucky, too,” Richardson said. “They haven’t offered, but we are talking with them.”
In Richardson’s words
“I will probably try and start cutting down my list in the summertime,” Richardson said. “Maybe toward EYBL.
“When I go on my visits, I’ll be looking at how invested the coaches are in me as a player. How invested the fans are in the program and the atmosphere at the school. I want to see if the school is a place I can see myself staying for four years, both on and off the court.
“Style of play won’t really matter to me. I just want to go somewhere that will let me come in and make an impact as a freshman.”
