Add Penn State to an already-impressive list of schools that have offered Forney (Texas) four-star running back Javian Osborne, one of the top burners in the 2026 cycle.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder announced an offer from Ja’Juan Seider and the Nittany Lions on Monday. PSU becomes offer No. 40 for Osborne, joining the who’s who of the Power Four.

As a junior for Forney, Osborne toted the rock 188 times in 10 games, tallying 1,227 yards and 25 touchdowns. The Jackrabbits won just five games, but the blue-chipper continued to establish himself as one of the best runners in the nation, regardless of class.

Osborne has stayed on the road this year, visiting a plethora of programs. Oregon, Alabama, Florida, Michigan, Baylor, Texas and Oklahoma have all had him on campus in 2024.

“Right now, Texas and Michigan are my top two schools,” Osborne told InsideTexas last month. “They’re the frontrunners, but it’s still early in the process. I’m just enjoying the ride, taking it all in.”

Osborne is the No. 72 overall prospect and No. 6 RB in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 9 junior in Texas.

Penn State already nearing 10 commits in 2026 class

Recruiting in the 2026 cycle has already been fruitful for head coach James Franklin and the Nittany Lions. As of Dec. 16, PSU has eight commits and the No. 5 class in the nation, per the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Six of the commits are on the offensive side of the ball. Harrisburg (Pa.) four-star interior offensive lineman Kevin Brown headlines as the nation’s No. 26 prospect and No. 3 IOL. He was one of six prospects that pledged amidst June to August.

Brown’s teammate, four-star RB Messiah Mickens, pledged in August and the No. 97 prospect and No. 10 RB in the nation. San Marcos (Calif.) Mission Hills four-star quarterback Troy Huhn, the nation’s No. 9 QB in the cycle, was the first addition to the class back in June.

“From the beginning, after every visit that I would take, I would think back to Penn State because they were always there and always with me,” Huhn told On3. “They showed the most love, they stayed the most consistent, and that made a difference for me in the end. I always wanted to go where I was wanted and Penn State showed me that over time. How they recruited me helped push them to the top of my list.”

Penn State also signed a pair of running backs in the 2025 class: Philadelphia Imhotep four-star RB Jabree Wallace-Coleman and Aliquippa (Pa.) three-star RB Tiqwai Hayes.
