Jaylen Harrell, a four-star shooting guard in the class of 2025, has named his top six schools — Alabama, Providence, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and Xavier.

The 6-foot-6 junior out of CATS Academy (MA) took an official visit to Rutgers in January and has unofficially visited Providence. He has two official visits currently scheduled: Providence on March 8th and Xavier on March 15th.

Harrell says he plans to take additional official visits to both Virginia Tech and Wake Forest and he’s also considering a trip to Alabama.

He breaks down each of his top six schools in an exclusive interview here (On3+).

According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Harrell is the No. 77 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle. He’s also the No. 22 shooting guard guard prospect. The On3 Industry Ranking is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

“I’m a scoring guard,” Harrell previously told On3. “I try to facilitate on all levels, and I bring as much energy as I can to the game. My ball-handling has improved a lot this season and I’m more of a leader I’d say. I watch a lot of Phil Handy and his ball-screen videos.”

Jaylen Harrell on what he’s looking for in a school + a timeline for a commitment

In a previous interview with On3, Harrell discussed what he’s looking for in a future college.

“Somewhere where I can have the confidence to just go,” he says. “Somewhere where I can be held accountable. Also, player development is huge for me because I’m trying to play professionally after college and if a coach wants that for me as well, then I’ll always have to look into that program.”

The talented player from Boston would like to make a decision late spring / early summer.

“I’m either going to make my decision in May or June. One of those two.”
