McClain discusses interest in Notre Dame and Georgia

The 5-foot-11.5, 185-pound defensive back recently spoke with Mike Singer of Blue and Gold about his interest in Notre Dame. He is currently talking with Fighting Irish defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Al Golden and safeties coach Chris O’Leary.

“I feel like they are treating me like a top target,” McClain said on Feb. 7. “I plan to go out for a visit in the spring some time, but I don’t have any set date yet.”

“I know Notre Dame is a good football and academic school that has a lot to offer for both, and I like that about them,” he added.

Meanwhile, Georgia offered McClain in the spring. He talked with Jake Reuse of DawgsHQ about it and his connection with defensive backs coach Fran Brown.

“The Georgia offer is definitely special considering they are the National Champions,” McClain said on March 9. “It’s good to know that my hard work is paying off. I found out after I reached out to Coach Fran. He said that he liked how smart I am and said that’s what’s different about me.”

“(Brown has) been recruiting me since he was at Rutgers, so I feel like we built a good relationship over that time,” he added. “He’s always been real to me and teaches me things to make me a better person and athlete. The message hasn’t been different, but we have talked about how we are both from Jersey. He’s just a real guy, because he’s going to be completely honest with you and make sure he helps you in any way.”
