Future 4-star Jeremiah Johnson talks official visits
Jeremiah Johnson has been one of 2024’s breakout performers early this season. The 6-foot-4 native of Oklahoma transferred to play at Pleasant Grove (UT) Wasatch Academy in the NIBC this season.
“I’m a team play, so whatever the coach needs, I’m going to bring it,” Johnson told On3. “With this team coach needs me to bring scoring and defense. As you saw today, I shot it well, got into the paint, and guarded the ball. I watch a lot of Ja Morant and his mindset with the game.”
The shooting guard was a highly-rated player prior to being injured in a 2021 shooting and needing surgery to have two bullets removed. Johnson is now back at full speed, and college programs are, again, starting to take notice.
“I haven’t taken any official visits yet,” Johnson said. “Of the schools who have offered, I’ve taken unofficial visits to Arkansas and Tulsa.”
Johnson talks recruiting
Arkansas: “I love their coaching staff and how they go about their business. I like how they bring it into practice and how everything is done in a pro setting. Every kid’s dream is to go pro and how they run all their stuff within the program is just pro, pro, pro. With the school, everyone loves basketball, and all the sports are very connected. They really have the team concept and the family atmosphere down there.”

Tulsa: “I’m not really from around Tulsa, so my going there showed a lot about the city. The school hasn’t really had a winning program, but they got a new coach this year that has brought in to winning. I also know a lot of people who go to Tulsa, so it’s cool to be seeing all the people I know there and just building a good relationship there.”
“I’m talking with Kansas, Texas Tech, Creighton, BYU, Colorado, Mississippi State, Kansas State,” Johnson said. “They all seem like they might be close to offering.”
In Jeremiah’s words
“My dad, Jeremy Johnson, played all the way to pro ball,” Jeremiah Johnson said. “He played in college at Texas State and then played overseas in Germany and all that.
“I’m gonna be looking at the team atmosphere; I want to go to a place that has a family atmosphere and environment. I’m going to make sure I’m going to be who I need to be on the court. For me to leave my family and leave my area, I need to know I’m going to play for a coach who knows it’s bigger than just basketball. I want to play for a coach who talks to me personally, makes sure my grades are good, and I’m getting my workouts in. I’ll play at a place that has a team and family bond.”
