Ole Miss offensive lineman Jeremy James is set to miss time with a hand injury, On3’s Pete Nakos reported. He suffered the injury in the Rebels’ Week 1 matchup against Furman.

James made his 50th consecutive start in that resounding 76-0 victory, which tied the Ole Miss career record. It’s unclear how much time he will miss with his injury as the Rebels get ready to take on Middle Tennessee this week, but the sense is it’s not a season-ending injury.

James has been a stalwart on the Ole Miss offensive line since arriving on campus in 2020. He was a FWAA Freshman All-American that season and has played a key role in protecting Jaxson Dart over the last few seasons.

Jeremy James arrived at Ole Miss as a three-star prospect. The Cumming (Ga.) North Forsyth product was the No. 675 overall player from the 2019 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Ole Miss put together a complete performance in Saturday’s victory over Furman. Dart was efficient, completing 22 of 27 passes for 418 yards and five touchdowns while rushing in a score of his own, en route to the 76-0 win to open the 2024 season.

Afterward, Dart didn’t sound surprised at how much the Rebels dominated. He said the expectation was to play at such a high level.

“Quite honestly, it’s kind of what we expected going into it,” Dart said after the game. “That’s just kind of the standard that we want to play at and excel at.”

Ole Miss enters the 2024 season with high expectations after Lane Kiffin and Co. landed a slew of gems from the transfer portal. But Dart said the goal is to have the right mentality and focus on getting the job done on the field – and nothing else.

“The big thing for us is just trying to control what we can control, and regardless of the score, regardless of the situation, going into each and every play with the same mindset,” Dart explained. “Trying to just execute it.”

“So I really happy with how we were able to do that and thought it was just incredible by our defense not giving up any points.”
