Joe Lunardi assesses if No. 1 seeds are locked in for NCAA March Madness
The No. 1 seeds are pretty much locked in for the NCAA Tournament in March Madness, according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi.
Purdue and UConn are pretty much locked in according to Lunardi. However, there is one seed that is going to have to be pretty careful moving forward.
Lunardi joined College GameDay and broke down the latest based on his bracketology projections.
“I think they are, Rece,” Lunardi said on if the one seeds are locked in. “If you look at it, the weakest one coming off a loss on Thursday night is Arizona and there’s still at least one loss, maybe two away from dropping. Houston and of course the top two Purdue and UConn separated weeks ago and we know where they’re going. Purdue is going to Indianapolis, UConn is going to Brooklyn and then Boston and it really doesn’t matter what order.”
UConn, despite its upset loss to Creighton earlier in the week, comes back to play Villanova Saturday night. As of the last few AP Polls, the Huskies have been the No. 1 team in the country.
Not much is expected to change, according to Lunardi. Purdue just took care of Rutgers to avoid an upset as well. With the remaining schedule on tap, the Boilermakers should also cruise to a top seed in the tournament.
Joe Lunardi breaks down NCAA bubble teams
Lunardi highlighted four games that should be on definite watch on Saturday as impact games in the bubble picture.
One of them is a key ACC showdown.
“Wake at home against Duke, certainly a win would slide the Demon Deacons into the field,” Lunardi said. “You could argue they should be there already. But this is where the bubble is.”

Another one of the bubble games to watch is in the SEC, where Texas A&M and Tennessee are set to tussle this evening.
“A&M, last team in the field, they’re on our air at Thompson-Boling tonight against Tennessee,” Lunardi said. “Tough duty.”
ESPN College GameDay host Rece Davis also chimed in on the importance of the matchup, looking at it from the other end. It’s also a big game for Tennessee.
“Keep an eye on that Texas A&M-Tennessee game tonight,” Davis said. “Now A&M I don’t think is a Quad 1 opportunity for them, but Tennessee has four more of those down the gut, so if somebody is going to make a run at that one seed if it was available it likely is the Volunteers.”
