4-star PF John Clark dives into his recruitment, talks Texas, Baylor, Houston, and more
John Clark came in at No. 70 in the recent 2025 On3 Industry Ranking update. The 6-foot-8 power forward from Houston (TX) Klein Cain High jumped onto the scene this summer with the TJ Ford Elite program. His summer culminated in him averaging 17.6 points on 52.3 percent shooting from the field, while playing up in age, during the Adidas 3SSB Circuit 17U Championships.
“I rebound the ball well,” Clark told On3. “I run the floor well, and I like to get second chance points. I’ll watch a lot of Giannis. I love how he runs the floor, and his moves are very effective all over the court. Then the way he moves, how he boxes out, gets rebounds, defends.”
On3 caught up with four-star John Clark after a recent live viewing to get updated on his recruitment.
Clark talks recruitment
“I’m talking with Texas, Baylor, Texas A&M, and Houston about visits,” Clark said. “We haven’t set anything yet.”
Texas: “The coaches have been great. They’re really cool, and they always talk about how they like my game. I like that they’re willing to invest their time into me and make me as good as I can be.”
Baylor: “They have had a couple of guys get drafted recently. Kendall Brown was just recently drafted from there. He’s my height, and we play kind of the same.I feel like I can do the same things, run the floor well, rebound well. I can shoot the three a little bit too.”

Houston: “Both Kellan and Kelvin Sampson are cool. They like me, and I like them. They just had two players get drafted this year; both (Marcus) Sasser and (Jarace) Walker went in the first round. The coaches tell me how I fit in with my motor and how well I rebound.”
Texas A&M: “We’re looking to get a visit there soon. Our talks have been good. They always talk about my intensity on the court and how I fit their culture.”
“I hear some from Texas Tech; they haven’t offered,” Clark said. “Baylor hasn’t offered yet either.”
At the end of the day…
“I’m looking to go to a school that is looking to invest in me and take their time to put their time into my development,” Clark said. “I want to be in a position to earn minutes early on. But, I want to go somewhere that has talent around me, and there is a connection both with the team and the coaches.”
