Former NFL and Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel is set to join Action Network as a college football analyst for the 2024 season.

Manziel is going to appear on the Big Bets on Campus show. There, he will give out his “Hail Mary Pick of the Week” every Saturday morning. That will be during a live episode of the show that airs ahead of games on Saturdays.

“Johnny was one of the most electric, creative and popular players in college football history. The definition of must-watch, appointment viewing,” Chad Millman, Action’s Chief Content Officer said. “And that’s exactly what he will be across our college football coverage.”

As a college quarterback, Manziel was a legendary talent. He won the Heisman Trophy in 2012 as a redshirt freshman. At the time, he was known for his running ability and ability to create something where the play seemed to break down. He finished that 2012 season completing 68 percent of passes for 3,706 yards and 26 touchdowns. He also ran for 1,410 yards and 21 touchdowns on the ground.

Going on to become a first round NFL Draft pick, Manziel struggled as a professional. He last played professionally in 2022 with the FCF Zappers. That’s an indoor football team, and as recently as last March Manziel had been open to potentially returning to arena football. He also had stops in the Canadian Football League and the AAF.

Now, he’s going to try his hand at analysis of college football with Action Network.

“College football is back and it’s an exciting time for the sport I love,” Manziel said. “I’m looking forward to joining the guys and sharing my view week-by-week of the college football landscape.”

At different points in his career, going back to college, Johnny Manziel has been a controversial figure thanks to off-field issues that he’s had. That has included some legal issues as well as substance abuse issues among other challenges that he’s faced.

Johnny Manziel is joining Stuckey and Collin Wilson on the set of Big Bets on Campus. On Tuesdays, that will include debating different topics in and around college football on a YouTube show. Big Bets on Campus also appears as a podcast since 2021. It typically serves college football bettors and has episodes four days a week.
