4-star Jordan McCullum goes in-depth on visits; updates recruitment
Jordan McCullum jumped to No. 96 in the recent 2024 On3 150 rankings update. The 6-foot-7 forward transferred to MaxPreps top ten ranked Huntington (WV) Huntington Prep this season. The four-star averaged 11.0 points, and 6.0 rebounds with a block and 1.3 steals at the recent Chick Fil A Classic.
“I can slash like a three, score it, and I can transition to the four, guard screens, and defend,” McCullum told On3. “I’m working on tightening my handle this season. I watch a lot of Brandon Ingram, with his size and length and how he’s able to score off the dribble.”
On3 caught up with Jordan McCullum after a recent live viewing to go in-depth on his recruitment and talk about visits.
McCullum talks recruitment
“My only official visit has been to Missouri,” McCullum said. “I visited Ole Miss unofficially so far, and I got an offer from Georgia.”
Ole Miss: “It was nice there. Jaemyn (Brakefield) used to go to school here at Huntington Prep, so he has been talking with me about it. I like how they’re really together as a team, and I thought Kermit (Davis) was a good coach.
“They reach out after my games and check in with me pretty regularly; they let me know how they’re doing and all. Everyone is in season right now, so…”
Missouri: “Missouri is real nice. They’re winning a lot right now; you could tell that the new coaching staff and Coach (Dennis) Gates know what they’re doing. They offered me in the summer, and I have been planning that visit since the summer. It was my first one, so everything stood out to me, really. It was all new.”

Georgia: “I haven’t been able to go on a visit there yet. I talk to that coach a lot, and he really thinks y game will fit well there. How they get out and run and how they defend.”
“I’m hearing from schools like Virginia, Illinois, and LSU,” McCullum said. “They haven’t offered, but I’d like to get out and see them.”
In his words
“I don’t have any specific time yet,” McCullum said. “But I would like to narrow things down and everything after AAU next year.
“I’m going to look closely at the culture of the program, and winning games is big to me. I want to be able to come in and make an immediate impact. I’ll look at how they play a little. I think I can do a lot, but I’ll look at how they plan and make sure I fit with what they do.”
